Malayalam cinema is very rich with beautiful talented actresses. Thease actresses are also famous in other languags like tamil telugu kannada. Many of the actresses won many awards including the national recognition.



We had the old actresses like sharada, Sheela,Jayabharathi in the early stages of malayalam cinema . They were Paired with the veteran actors like Satyan,Prem Nazir and Jayan. Sharada won the national award and was known as urvashi sharada. we had another actress Seema done majority of the roles with Jayan who killed in the helecoptor accident in the set of Kolilakkam.




After Jayan's death there were some changes in the stardom of malayalam cinema. The new heros appeared . Mammootty, Mohanlal,Rathish and suresh gopi are among them. Rathish died earlier after doing some momorable roles incuding Rajavinte Makan and Commissionor. Mammootty and Mohanlal still remains the superstars of malayalam cinema. Mohanlal and Mammmooty received many award including three time national award.Biggest release of mammootty recently was the big budget movie Pazhassi Raja.





Urvashi and shobhana entered the malayalam movies later on. Shobhana is the well known dancer who won the national award for her perfomance in 'Manichithrathazhu'. Urvashi is till in movies doing mother roles.






In the new generation the malayalam movie featured young talented and sexy actresses. They were Kavya Madhavan, Bhavana, Meera Jasmin, Nayanthara so on. Nayanthara done few movies in malayalam and she moved to tamil movies and done a lot of sexy roles. Kavya Madhavan sexy actress talented still doing movies. She got married last year to business man but endin divorce. The recent release of kavya was Pappy Appacha with Dileep.




Meera Jasmin isvery talented doing movies in tamil malayalam movies. Meera Jasmin perfomance in perumazhakalam was brilliant but in Orekadal was superb. Bhavana is very sexy and done many glamorous roles. She is still doing many movies in diffrent languages. Actress Bhama is the latest addition to the malayalam movie. Bhama started with the movie Nivedyam directed by Lohithadas.



Jagathi sreekumar is still the one and only comedian for decades. Even if Suraj venjarammoodu is come still Jagathi is super hero doing comedy roles.
