Miss Universe 2011: Sushmita Sen hopeful for India to win the title: Former beauty queen Sushmita Sen is hopeful that India will finally break its decade-long jinx at the Miss Universe 2011.The actress, who bought the franchise for selecting the Miss Universe India last year, says preparations have begun for the “I Am She” contest.

“Hope you all r having a lovely day!!:) we at our end have been busy with preparations for’I AMshe 2011′.. it’s all so creative n exciting!! I sooooo want India to win ‘Miss Universe’ again!! It’s a victory long due:)) I know u feel d same way!” Sushmita posted on her Twitter page.

The 35-year-old has asked her fans and interested candidates to suggest ideas for finding the right girl this time.

“All thoughts n ideas are welcome! Let’s as a team find that beautiful n intelligent representative from India to d world:) do u know who?:) Also guys, do visit our site.. Iam-she.com..all info provided there!!:) let’s win d Miss Universe..shall we;)) d eternal optimist:))cheers!,” she added.

Sushmita was the first Indian to win the Miss Universe crown in 1994, after which Lara Dutta claimed the title in 2000. Both women went on to be successful actors in Bollywood.

Sush and Dia at People Magazine Party

Recently the gorgeous Sushmita Sen and and the lovely Dia Mirza were spotted at the People Magazine party.

Sush looked stunning in this blue McQueen dress. Didn’t like the clutch though but the grace & the aura she exudes is what makes her the most beautiful women in the universe.

Dia on the other hand got us disappointed with the orange. A colour rarely seen and that goes down well with most people. Like the messy braid though

Sushmita Sen wins GR8 award

Sushmita Sen displayed her stunning figure in a Satin shirt and skinny jeans at recently held GR8 Women Achievers Award and walked away with GR8 special mention for supporting a girl child.

Sushmita on recieving the award said, “My family had always taught me to revere the female energy — she is called Shakti and has the power to create and nurture. My mother is my Shakti.

Other women who won the awards were, Saroj Khan, Aradhna Gupta , Asha Parekh, Shahnaaz Hussain, Lovleen Tandon and Zoya Akhtar.

Shilpa and Sushmita at the DNA After Hrs Style Award

The DNA After Hrs Style awards were held on Wednesday February 17th which witnessed the presence of the country’s beautiful people come together under one roof. The awards were presented by Volkswagen at The Intercontinental, the Lalit. The panel of judges comprised of filmmaker Karan Johar, designer Manish Malhotra, supermodel Ujjwala Raut and author and columnist Shobhaa De. There were over 20 awards in various categories.

The whos who of Bollywood fraternity attended the award function in their style quotient. Shilpa Shetty came attired in a silver and pink sari which she paired with a silver Leiber minaudiere. Sonam Kapoor wore a vintage Victor Costa dress along with ankle booties. Sushmita Sen who also won the style award stuck to her comfortable black zone. Shahid Kapoor sported a casual do and also swept away a style award for his fashion sense.
